Style Icon: Samantha Stephens

Samantha Stephens was the best witch wife that ever there was, and she was so stylish.

"Bewitched" aired from 1964-1972 and featured some serious Mad-Men style fashions (or, I guess, Mad Men features some serious Bewitched style fashions). There's Sam looking good in a shift dress hanging out in the kitchen.

There she is in her cute little straight-leg, ankle-skimming pants and ballet flats using her pink vacuum looking adorable. But don't think Sam was only fashionable when doing housework! She was also a full-on witch and could do all sorts of things with that twitchy little nose of hers.

Darren, her husband, isn't really onboard for the nose-twitching stuff, but her fabulous mother, Endora, encourages her (Endora is a Style Icon for another time for sure).

And really anything Elizabeth Montgomery wears, whether she's playing Samantha Stephens or not, is absolutely adorable because it's Elizabeth Montgomery wearing it.

Ragamuffin

Natalie Wood is absolutely awesome, and, for the most part, she is a total glamour puss. She's famous for movies like "Splendor in the Grass" and "A Rebel Without a Cause" -- heavy, teenage dramas where she plays the beautiful love interest. "Inside Daisy Clover" is also a heavy, teenage drama, I suppose, and she's totally the pretty girl in it, but before she's the pretty girl, she's the tough ragamuffin. I love her as a tomboy! She's all smoking and blowing stuff up. Don't try this at home, kids! But do watch "Inside Daisy Clover"!

Style Icon: Roseanne Barr

I'm a fan of Roseanne. I love her humor and unapologetic loudness. I also really love her style these days. Like, I want to dress like Roseanne when I'm a grandma. She has some great cranky-hippy grandma style.

This became most apparent to me when I was watching her short-lived -- but so good! -- reality show Roseanne's Nuts. She lives on a nut farm in Hawaii, and she always looks comfy and fabulous.

Scarves! Earrings! Little braids in her hair! Hanging out with the hippie boy who lives on her land! Also: I dig that she keeps her hair naturally gray hair. Dig it.

She is just so un-Hollywood and so Roseanne. It was fun watching her hang out on her Hawaii farm, and I was bummed when the show wasn't picked up for another season. Oh well. I still say - Roseanne Barr: Cranky-hippy, grandma style icon.

Style Icon: Helen Mirren

I hear a lot of people saying they'd like to look like Helen Mirren when they're "her age." My thoughts? Who wouldn't want to look like Helen Mirren no matter what age? That lady is foxy! I wouldn't mind being that hot right now!

Style Icon: Agathe from Style Bytes

Style Bytes was the first fashion blog I followed, and I followed it obsessively.

Agathe lived in Norway, and she was fabulous. Her style went from edgy to fun to classic, and it was always so editorial.

And she had a pig as a pet so that was really, really awesome. I loved reading about her adventures and seeing these amazing pictures of what seemed to be an amazing life.

Then all of a sudden -- poof! She stopped writing, and all her rabid fans were like "What happened? Is she dead? What is going on?" (I was one of those fans.)

From what I've learned in the years since, she made the blog with her boyfriend turned husband, and when they broke up, she just lost interest. To which I say: Fair enough, Agathe. You don't owe us anything. But, ah man, we are grateful for the sartorial times we did have together.

Style Icon: Baby in Dirty Dancing

I love Dirty Dancing. I have no idea how many times I've watched it. It was required viewing for every slumber party in the early '90s. Baby is so great, and I love her '80s/'60s style. Especially when she is carrying a watermelon.

But eventually, she's up in the air in that pink dress looking amazing because "No one puts Baby in a corner."

Before she made that sweet lift, however, she had to practice the routine in some great and comfortable summertime dance wear. Cropped shirt? Check. Jean shorts? Check. Little Keds? Check and check.

It's best to wear white when practicing a dance routine in a lake with Patrick Swayze.

And you don't have to have a dance partner to practice! Just break it down on a bridge in a tank top and short shorts!

Or, you could have two dance partners to get it right! And a '60s printed pink playsuit. Oh that playsuit! I watched this movie with a friend years ago, and he absolutely hated it. He spent the whole time saying "It's so '80s. How is it so '80s?" But I think that '80s take on the '60s look is part of its charm. And Patrick Swayze. That's the other part of its charm.

Style Icon: Pollyanna

I loved the movie "Pollyanna" when I was a kid. It starred Hayley Mills as the orphan Pollyanna who comes to live with her stern, cold Aunt Polly.

Aunt Polly has major moolah. Pollyanna doesn't. She arrives wearing a not very fancy outfit.

Don't worry, Pollyanna! New clothes are in your future! (And besides I'm digging the hat and boots.)

Aunt Polly is by no means nice to Pollyanna at the beginning (or middle) of the movie, but she does give her some sweet new threads.

And Pollyanna hangs out around town wearing her fab new clothes and making lots of friends and playing "The Glad Game" and showing people it's way better to be optimistic instead of being negative all the time.

And eventually, she even melts Aunt Polly's heart. How can you not love that face? And that bow? It's impossible not to love these things!

Style Icon: The Dude

Who doesn't love The Dude? I mean, I sure love The Dude. Anyone who's seen the movie "The Big Lebowski" loves The Dude, and if you don't, well, that's just, like, your opinion man.

The Dude has a singular California style. He's really into comfort. He likes his flippy floppies. He likes his robe. Robes are comfortable, man.

Sloppy chic. That's The Dude. Or actually, I think he's just sloppy. But I love it!

Although this sweater is quite snazzy. Everything The Dude wears looks like something delicious to sleep in, don't you think? This dude dresses for leisure. That's his approach to life -- leisurely. And that's why we love him!

Style Icon: Frances Bean Cobain

For a long time, Frances Bean was the baby who looked so cute on Mtv when her super star parents attended that awards show (Kurt with a bottle, Courtney in a glam white gown). That's who she was in my brain.

But time marches on, and Frances Bean grew up, and it turns out I dig her style. Pictured above: Frances Bean at 13.

She has a punk-rock style (and kind of an LA rich kid style), but I also think she's got a 1940s Hollywood glamour thing going on....

See? Glamour.

Glamour and rips and holes and messy hair. Love it all. Love it all.

Style Icon: Jean Harlow

Jean Harlow was such a gorgeous, platinum-blond glamour girl. She's one of film's earliest dumb blondes.

The '30s were a great time for hair. I mean, I wouldn't want to live back then and have to deal with it (air dry for me over here!), but I enjoy looking at the movie stars sporting those fab waves and platinum shades.

The '30s were also a really great time for gowns. Oh the slinky, silky gowns! Jean Harlow wears them like nobody's business! She's a style icon for sure

Style Icon: Anthony Bourdain

Mmkay, I'm a total Anthony Bourdain fangirl. I just so enjoy all the television programming he is involved in. I want to travel the world and eat and eat and eat, but, sadly, my resources are somewhat limited. And so -- I enjoy watching him do it, and he does it with style.

The style of which I speak? Button-down shirts. Khaki pants or jeans. Sometimes blazers. Sometimes sunglasses. Often beer.

Not all men can pull off flip flops. Here is a man who can wear the hell out of some flip flops. He also enjoys boots, the exact opposite of flip flops.

I think he has travel style down, as he well should since he travels so much. Everything is simple. Everything is relatively comfortable. Nothing is fussy, but you have some elements that make you look like a cool kid -- sunglasses, boots...

...A really amazing view behind you. That really helps with the cool kid status too.
